Shortly after ‘The Speckled Band’ was completed, we decided to adapt another Sherlock Holmes tale. Our eventual wish is to do the best story of all, ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles,’ but that will have to wait awhile I’m afraid. We settled on ‘The Final Problem,’ the short story that pits Sherlock Holmes against his greatest adversary, Professor Moriarty. We liked the story because of its central focus on Holmes and Watson, and the journey that leads them to the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland. It’s a striking portrait of friendship, and what’s more,  contains a strong theme of sacrifice throughout. Holmes, arrogant and aloof as he can sometimes be, is nonetheless willing to give his life for the assured well-being of London’s people.

As with every new film, it is our desire that this one be better than the last. This story has given us an opportunity to not only concentrate on the characterizations of Holmes and Watson, but to also heighten the quality of  the sets, locations, and costumes.

Shooting began in late May and continues at present.

Our second Sherlock Holmes film project, ‘The Speckled Band’ was developed over a period of six months. The intention was to up the detail as much as we could from the last film. In the end, the shoot ended up going forward without some of the detail we desired, both in set and costume. The film was a challenge in many ways, but great fun to do. Here is the Preview:
